I have always known that I wanted to be a writer. I have been making up stories as far back as I can remember. I had always assumed that I would only write fiction. After going through some experiences of invalidation, I found myself constantly thinking about validation, talking to my friends about how to be validating and consent-conscious. So many people had had similar experiences of being told that their feelings were not valid, that they were being "too" sensitive, that what happened to them was not as bad as they said. Many of my friends discovered that their own feelings and experiences were valid after talking with me about validation. This was when I knew I needed to do something about invalidation, not just for my friends, but for everyone. This was how I began my first book, Redefining Positive.
